TummyFriendly Foods

USDA & India Organic Sprouted Baby Food. No Sugar, No Salt.

About TummyFriendly Foods

A 2019 WHO study found that most commercial baby foods contain dangerous levels of sugar, not from added sweeteners alone but from the processing methods used to make grain-based powders palatable. Spray-dried fruit powders, which most brands use, require maltodextrin as a carrier. Refined grains process quickly but lose the bran and germ where most nutrients sit. TummyFriendly Foods, founded in Hyderabad in 2019 by Sridevi Ashala, an engineer who left a tech leadership role specifically to address this gap, is built around the opposite approach: sprouted whole grains, no spray-drying, no sugar, no salt, no milk powder.

Sprouting is the process of germinating grains and pulses before processing them into flour. It breaks down phytic acid, an anti-nutrient present in raw grains that blocks the absorption of iron, calcium, and zinc, and naturally multiplies vitamin content and protein digestibility. This is the science behind traditional South Indian sathu maavu, which households have made this way for generations. TFF industrialised and certified it: USDA Organic, India Organic (NPOP/APEDA), Jaivik Bharat (FSSAI), and ADITI certified. In-house microbial and chemistry labs test every batch against BIS standards, with moisture kept below 4%, which is how they achieve shelf stability without preservatives.

The baby and toddler range covers three developmental stages starting from 6 months, across sprouted ragi, brown rice, oats, moong dal, Kerala banana, sathu maavu, and multi-grain combinations, plus millet cereals for toddlers from 24 months. Beyond baby food, the adult range applies the same millet-first logic to everyday eating: millet cookies, millet namkeen, aluminium-free millet pancake mix, and dry fruit laddus in jowar, flax, sesame, peanut butter, and beetroot variants.

Over 50,000 customers, predominantly repeat buyers. That retention rate in a category where parents switch brands the moment a child rejects something is the clearest indicator that the product actually works as intended.
